Kids' Lit Quiz team heaven - a bookshop open just for them after hours. We also had to sing the national anthem and show off our bush dancing skills. A new book for the CGS library signed by the author, Derryn Campbell (pictured). A lovely gift from Janine at Books and Books.
The boys also received a signed copy of 'Spud'. Today was a great opportunity to meet local students. We loved the traditional story told by one of the Pendulani students. Sporting our new hats - a gift from the US team. Storytelling with Gcina Mhlope was amazing. She is a bundle of talent, fun and energy! Monkeys in the plAyground.. Craft at Manor Gardens Primary School.
After a very long flight and not much sleep in 24 hours we landed in Durban. I think our heads had hardly hit the pillows before we were snoring happily.
After a hearty breakfast we went for a walk along the beach and a splash in the waves. The weather is gorgeous - so much warmer than Canberra winter. Lunch was yummy and oh so cheap! We have caught up with the other teams except two of the US team who were stranded at JFK. |
