Unfortunately today we say goodbye to the sunshine in Durban and the many new friends we have made from across the world.

We got some bargains at the markets. There is a beaded menagerie on its way back to Australia!

Durban has an average of 8.3 hours of sunshine a day. The boys had a great day at the water park and then a braai (bbq) on the beach with storytelling.

Kids' Lit Quiz team heaven - a bookshop open just for them after hours.
We also had to sing the national anthem and show off our bush dancing skills.

A new book for the CGS library signed by the author, Derryn Campbell (pictured). A lovely gift from Janine at Books and Books.
The boys also received a signed copy of 'Spud'.

South Africa were the winners (31), New Zealand (30) and Canada (29). The Australian team came in 5th! Good effort boys!!

After a very long flight and not much sleep in 24 hours we landed in Durban. I think our heads had hardly hit the pillows before we were snoring happily.
After a hearty breakfast we went for a walk along the beach and a splash in the waves. The weather is gorgeous - so much warmer than Canberra winter.
Lunch was yummy and oh so cheap!
We have caught up with the other teams except two of the US team who were stranded at JFK.
